Chapter 4: Shadows Beneath the Bed
“Don’t be scared — just a blown lightbulb,” Gao Han’s voice came from the shadows. His face half-obscured in the dark, twisted into something eerie, his tone laced with an unsettling excitement.
The girls felt a chill crawl up their spines.
“Come on, let’s keep playing!” he called out.
The girls huddled together. Xiao Han forced down her fear. “Since the lights are out, maybe we should call it a night.”
“Yes! Yes, let’s!”
The others chimed in quickly.
Gao Han chuckled softly. “What a shame.”
As the three girls hurried upstairs to their room, Gao Han’s lips curled unnaturally wide — all the way to the corners of his ears. His crimson tongue suddenly flicked into the sack in his hands.
A few agonizing cries came from within the bag… then silence.
I’m the Legend: “Ahh! My heart can’t take it — that light didn’t blow by accident, I swear!”
Eerie Moonlight: “With all my years of reading horror novels, I’m telling you — that guy’s behind it.”
007: “So wait… is Gao Han a ghost?”
I Am the War God: “Looks like no one’s sleeping tonight. @_@”
Sour Lemon: “Did anyone else see Gao Han’s creepy smile just now?”
007: “Did he smile? I didn’t catch it.”
I Am the War God: “Too dark to tell.”
Sour Lemon: “Maybe I imagined it from being too nervous…”
I’m the Legend: “This is terrifying. Waaah.”
Back upstairs, the blonde girl locked the bedroom door and finally exhaled in relief.
She grabbed her phone — the case was visibly warped from how tightly she’d been gripping it.
“Master Lin, what should we do next?”
I paused, thinking. “Whatever happens, don’t fall asleep tonight.”
“The extinguishing of your yang fire is definitely linked to the bedroom.”
Xiao Han trembled. “Master Lin… You mean, the bedroom is haunted too?”
Another girl stammered, “Han-jie… Could it be like those ghost stories, where once we fall asleep, the ghost starts draining our life force?”
“No wonder I’ve been feeling sore and weak lately…” another added.
“Hehehe, maybe you’re being haunted by a pervy ghost!” someone teased.
“Oh come on! You’re really making fun of me right now?”
Their laughter lightened the tension, pushing back the creeping fear — if only for a moment.
I looked around the room. At first glance, it seemed completely normal, no different from any average bedroom.
But when I activated Ghost-Veiled Eyes, the truth came into focus.
Strange markings appeared on the floor — faint, but pulsing with a sinister, metallic tang of blood.
My brows furrowed. These were runes drawn in the menstrual blood of virgins, using a Yin hour from the lunar calendar — a rare and powerful method.
The entire formation was etched beneath the bed. Anyone lying on it would fall into a deep slumber, while the array silently siphoned their yang energy.
This ghost wasn’t just haunting — it was educated… and troublesome.
Knock knock knock.
A sudden knock came at the door.
